Unknown gunmen have killed no less than six persons in coordinated attacks on Isu and Onicha communities in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi State.

The attacks occurred on Thursday morning at about 8:30 am.

It also comes less than 24hours after Governor David Umahi said that counter-groups may rise to challenge the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East.

It was gathered that the attack lasted for hours with three vehicles burnt.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen gained access into the council headquarters and killed some persons.

Umahi had said that killings by gunmen in the state will not reoccur again, saying his administration will arrest parents of the gunmen if they dared attack the state again.
