Nigeria-born Chika Anaebom, Vietnamese girlfriend murdered in Thailand

A Nigerian national from Imo State Nigeria, Mr Chika Anaebom Henry popularly known as Chika Malaysia has been killed in Thailand.

The body of the 38-year-old was discovered buried in a shallow grave in northeastern Thailand together with that of his 33-year-old Vietnamese girlfriend identified as Nguyen Thi Van.

Local police said their fingerprints were sent for an investigation to the Vietnamese and Nigerian embassies.

It said that a reply from the embassy identified one of the fingerprints to be that of 33 years old NGUYEN THI VAN, a Vietnamese nationality while the fingerprints of another male corpse buried together were found to be of Anaebom Chika Henry, 38, a Nigerian nationality and now CHU.

The police said it was trying to gather all evidence to solve the case.

Chika hails from Avutu Obowo in Imo State and has lived in Umuahia, Abia State capital before relocating to Thailand.

Their corpses were discovered by wild mushroom harvesters in a forest in Chok Chai district in Nakhon Ratchasima on the evening of July 28, 2022.

The man noticed a fresh pile of earth covered with branches about 500 metres off Highway 224.

Police said the village head and other residents went to check it out and after digging into the soil, they uncovered a human body.

Police were called to the scene and rescue workers dug deeper, uncovering the bodies of a man and a woman buried less than one metre down naked.

According to the Village headman, Thepbancha Saikrathok said the woman’s body was above the man’s body in the grave, and each was mostly covered with a layer of cement.

It was initially estimated they had been dead for at least three days. Local people said they did not recognise them, and there have been no reports of people missing in the general area.

Police said it was likely they were murdered elsewhere and their bodies brought to the forest and hidden.

The two bodies were taken to Chok Chai Hospital for full post-mortem examination to support investigation and identification On Thursday, August 4, Nakhon Ratchasima police said the serial number of the Vietnamese woman’s silicone breast implants and the Nigerian man’s fingerprint assisted in identifying the victims.
