Following the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) new directive for sim card registration to be linked to the National Identification number (NIN), crowd has continued to gather at the entrance gate of the office of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) along Aba road Port Harcourt in a bid to be registered.

Speaking in an interview with our correspondent who visited the office to monitor situation of things at NIMC office, the state coordinator of National Identity Management Commission, Mrs. OgheneKero Amonia emphasized the readiness of the commission to register every applicant across the state in designated registration centers in the various local government areas.

“On daily basis we come prepared to manage the crowd. We want to appeal to Nigerians to be patient when they go to any NIMC office. We have the booking method whereby people come and boom down their names on days to be captured”

“As you are aware, we work Saturdays and Sundays to make sure we attend to applicants. When I said Nigerians should be patient, when they go to NIMC offices, they should go to the office, fill the forms the forms will be verified and then numbers will be given and when it is their turn they will be captured.

“We have centers in almost all the local government areas. NIMC is coming up with what we call ecosystem, and some of you may be aware about 150-173 contractors have been licensed to do the registration Nationwide”.

The NIMC state coordinator said the commission has also adopted a new method known as ecosystem which will commence soon in the state to reduce large crowd at various registration centers, pointing out that registration is free and that applicants should not pay money to process their registration.

Mrs. Amonia advised applicants to strictly adhere to the covid-19 protocol by using face mask, observe social distancing and wash their hands while at the registration centers, pointing out that applicants can also visit any of the registration centers of the NIMC office close to them and book the date convenient to them.
