After shutting down Oziza FM, security agents surround home of Imo Journalist, Nonso Nkwa

Security agents on Tuesday surrounded the home of Theodore Chinonso Uba, popularly known as Nonso Nkwa over his reports on the massacre of 14 persons by the Ebubeagu Security Network in Awo-Mmama.

Nonso Nkwa is the head of the Igbo Department at Oziza FM, a radio station owned by the Catholic Church which was shut down by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, NBC a few days ago.

He hosted several families of the victims of the Awo-Mmama massacre who provided first-hand accounts that countered claims by governor Hope Uzodimma.

Uzodimma had claimed that the killings were carried out by operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS and not Ebubeagu.

Stakeholders accused Uzodimma of sponsoring the gag on the media outlet notable for its critical assessment of the security situation in the state.

Nonso Nkwa who confirmed the surrounding of his house by the security agents said he is safe for now as they left following public outcry on social media.

He thanked lovers of justice who escalated the activities of the security agents at his house.

He said he was not disturbed by the attempt by authorities to stop him from telling the truth, adding that he will never be intimidated no matter their plans.

He said that he gathered from a very reliable source that the security operatives came with a helicopter which was packed somewhere in Owerri waiting to grab him and fly him to Abuja.
