The Peoples Democratic Party has released the final list of 229 automatic delegates for its governorship primary election in Anambra State holding today.

The party also dropped 21 persons with disabilities who were earlier added to the list.

Col Austin Akobundu, the national organising secretary of the party in a statement said that persons with disabilities were dropped because the state executive of the party which nominated them had been dissolved.

Akobundu’s statement said that the number of delegates in the 21 local government areas of the state varied.

In the list, Dunukofia Local Government Area has the least number of delegates, with just three persons, while Awka South Local Government Area has the highest, with 23 delegates.

According to the list, half of the 16 aspirants running for the ticket of the party will not vote in today’s primary election as they have not held positions in the party, public office or even contested election in the party before to qualify as automatic delegates.

Accreditation for the primary will be held at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, while voting would take place in Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre.
