The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, says it will clamp down on some criminal elements enforcing its suspended Monday sit-at-home in South East.
The group had ordered that sit-at-home on Mondays to press the demand for the release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
However, after pressure from stakeholders, the group suspended the move, saying that the order would now be observed only when Kanu is appearing in the court to continue his trial.
But despite the suspension, hoodlums have taken advantage of the situation to continue to enforce the sit-at-home order, attacking and killing those who violated it.
The group came under heavy criticism on Monday after some students participating in the ongoing 2021 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, were attacked in Imo State for violating the sit-at-home order to sit for their English Language examination.
Emma Powerful, media and publicity secretary of the grou said on Tuesday that anyone caught enforcing the order henceforth, would be dealt with.
Powerful said that anyone moving contrary to the cancellation of the sit-at-home would face their wrath, saying that IPOB is not clan meeting
He said, “I am happy you said it yourself that we cancelled the Monday sit-at-home.
“We said it in the beginning, but we stopped it, we have told people to stop sitting at home on Mondays.
“Anyone doing anything to the contrary, forcing people to sit-at-home on Mondays, or doing anything to them because they are not sitting at home on Mondays, if IPOB get such people, no matter who the person is, we will cut off his ears, IPOB is not clan meeting, it is a revolutionary movement fighting for the Republic of Biafra”.
