Hope Uzodimma, the Imo State Governor, on Wednesday, said despite the continuation of the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the group has no control over Imo people.
The group had ordered a sit-at-home in the region to pressure the federal government into releasing its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It later called off the protest but residents of the region continued with the sit-at-home.
Uzodimma who spoke to reporters after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House said6 that only his government can give an order mandating people to stay away from their work or businesses and expect obedience, the reason why normal activities have continued unabated in the state.
According to him, Imo State has become peaceful to the point that football matches now take place at night without fear,
He further advised Nigerians not to take laws into their hands even when aggrieved and protect the sanctity of the country.
