Following the gruesome killing of Ahmed Gulak in Imo State by unknown gunmen, Muslims in Rivers State have advised northerners not to travel on South-eastern roads.
Gulak who hailed from Adamawa State and was a Presidential Adviser to former President, Good luck Jonathan on Political Affairs was assassinated on his way to Abuja en-route Sam Mbakwue Airport, Owerri.
The State Protocol Officer, Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Danliti Aliyu told our correspondent that though the South-eastern routes are shorter when travelling to the North from the South-south but safety first.
“It is advisable for the northerners at this time to avoid travelling on South-eastern roads.
“No matter how long another route could be, our northern people should use it and avoid using South-eastern roads.
“I will also urge those northerners living and doing business in the Southeast not to get panicked over the killing of Gulak.
“They should also not consider leaving their means of livelihood in the South-east to elsewhere as the situation has not worsened to that level.
“Security agents in the South-east should try and give more protection to the northerners in the South-east because the northerners are the most vulnerable tribe in the Igbo speaking states of the country,” Aliyu said.
