As part of her efforts to support the growth of the party at the ward level, a petty trader has donated parts of her life savings to the Labour Party at the opening of Idi/Ogbozalla ward office in Opi, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Mrs Maria Asogwa, a petty trader donated 10, 000 naira part of her life savings to the party.
She said the donation became necessary because the party needed the support to bring about the necessary changes at the president poll next year.
Speaking to Standard Observers, Mrs Asogwa said that the party and its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi has inspired hope in her, adding that she is optimistic that he would bring about the necessary changes when he wins in 2023.
She said: “I am more than 60 and I am doing this for me, my children and grandchildren. We are optimistic that we will see a Nigeria that is different from what we have had when Obi becomes president next year.
“I’m not a member of the party but I am supporting it. This is my little way of encouraging the party to stand strong in my ward. Next year, I will come out and vote. Not only that. I will encourage others to support the party with the little that they can”.
The Idi/Ogbozalla ward chairman of the party, Kingsley Eze lauded Mrs Asogwa for the support, adding that her support for Mr Peter Obi and Labour Party will not be taken for granted.
