Most people in South East identify with IPOB's agitation - Metuh

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh has congratulated the party for jettisoning zoning.

He said if the party had zoned its presidential ticket to the South, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike would have taken it.

Metuh also apologised to the zoning committee for making his disagreement with zoning public instead of sending it as a memo to the committee.

He said: “Congratulations to the Peoples Democratic Party for the NEC decision rejecting zoning at such a late hour.

“I apologise to some of our leaders who felt my memo should have been circulated within the zoning committee and not as an open letter.

*To some of our members who misread my memo as an opposition to Southern Presidency, I can only advice that they should understand that politics is quite deep and with a lot of intrigues. I maintain that zoning to the south would have clearly eliminated the intended choice of the people as the design was already to anoint a particular aspirant as the Southern choice. But Nigerians want to believe in their new leader.

“Nigerians believe that Peter Obi embodies the humility, discipline and strength of purpose needed at this present time to handle the affairs of our Nation.

“To all those who truly desire Peter Obi as the candidate of the party, help him and help enthrone the Nigeria of your dreams.

“Help Peter Obi by directly lobbying and adopting delegates in your residence or area of influence. Seek out the delegates and convince them personally that this is project Nigeria 2023. Do not abuse or antagonise the delegates, canvass for their support by personal contact. If the vast majority of believers engage delegates directly, Peter Obi will win at least 40% of the delegates and this is more than enough to have a landslide victory on the 29th.

“I want PDP to win, I want PDP to bring back the lost glory of our nation, I want PDP to change from sharing the money to saving our money, I want PDP to allow the youth to dream and plan their future in a peaceful nation, I want PDP to give us the best candidate.

“On a personal level, if PDP wins, I will lobby for the only job of my dreams, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency. I desire to join in bringing back the moral and social values needed to rebuild our nation. I desire to leave a legacy as one of those who changed the values of our people to refocus from seeking wealth to seeking success, from constant hustling to taking life easy and being content always. Truly the best things in life are free ….

“We have two aspirants that stand out from the exceptional and unprecedented array of aspirants at the moment. Peter Obi is number one, the primus inter pares, the best of the best’

“There is a tide in the affairs of men. Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune”.
