Ohanaeze calls for zoning in Anambra

The Anambra State chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide has said that zoning arrangements with regards to Anambra State governorship position will benefit the state.

The State President of the Pan – Igbo Socio-Cultural Organization, Chief Emeka Udodeme stated this in Awka during an ongoing One-Day Town Hall Meeting on zoning in the state.

Chief Udodeme noted that their unflinching support to the zoning arrangement has no political undertone, and explained that zoning will help build a progressive Anambra, enthrone peaceful coexistence and will contribute greatly towards achieving a state with sustainable economic growth and development, ABS reports.

The National Vice President of the Apex Igbo body, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, in his remarks said zoning arrangements will help reduce tension, curtail excessive spending, with respect to pre and post-election disagreements in the state.

He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts towards sustaining Zoning arrangements calling on all political parties to key into the initiative for the greater good of the state.

On his part, the Deputy Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and Traditional Ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor who is the father of the day noted that traditional rulers in Anambra State insisted on the zoning arrangements because of its potentials.

The meeting is expected to produce a communique that will capture the stand of the group.

The National President, ASATU Barrister Titus Akpudo, Former Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi among other notable stakeholders are present at the ongoing meeting.
