Government of Anambra state has condemned the attack by unknown assailants at Awkuzu.

Governor Willie Obiano who stated this during a statewide broadcast at Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area, commiserated with the grieving families, ABS reports.

According to the Governor, the immediate curfew which was ordered immediately in Igbariam, Awkuzu, Nteje, Umunya, Umuleri and Aguleri communities, was a means of curtailing the security challenges in those areas in particular and the state at large.

Governor Obiano appealed to Ndi Anambra to be calm and go about their businesses without fear, assuring that the criminals will be brought to justice.

While appreciating Ndi Anambra for their continued support, the Governor urged those in the affected communities to comply with the curfew directive, assuring that the challenges will be surmounted very soon.

Recall that there was clash in the early morning of Monday, April 26, 2021 between some people in Uzo Nkwo, Awkuzu, in Oyi Local Government Area, and some non-indigenes, where some people were killed and some others maimed, as such both sides recorded casualties.

However, security agents quickly moved to the scene and took control of the situation.
