The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, appeal panel for the Anambra National Assembly screening has asked the gubernatorial candidate of the party in November 6 gubernatorial election, Valentine Ozigbo to return the clearance certificate earlier issued to him.

The appeal panel led by Alfred Isaneme said Ozigbo could not prove that he submitted his form on time. It said that the Ozigbo did not disprove that the submission time elapsed because he was waiting for the Supreme Court to annul the gubernatorial election and declare him governor.

Explaining further, the panel said when Ozigbo submitted his form, it was out of time adding that he was boastful, bitter, angry and curseful and equally demanded for an apology from the party members he alleged conspired against him by virtue of being the leader of party having contested for the gubernatorial seat.

“In the light of the above, it is the considered verdict of this panel that the clearance certificate issued to Valentine Ozigbo which was conveyed to the panel on the 2nd of May via an application for withdrawal first reported date April 27th and submitted on April 29th is not upheld and consequently, a verdict of Not Cleared is hereby made.

“Therefore, our conclusion is that Valentine Ozigbo is not cleared to take part in the Anambra National Assembly primary election for the 2023 general election and any clearance certificate issued to him is therefore nullified and void and must be returned to the Peoples Democratic Party Secretariat or nearest state chapter”

On Tony Nwoye, the panel described him as the leader of a mercenary that destroyed the party in 2004. It added that Nwoye has a history of tax infractions.

According to it, the tax clearance given to Nwoye by the Anambra State government listed his occupation as medical practice but said the aspirant is not a graduate let alone a medical doctor.

It further described Nwoye as a medical student of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus who dropped out at year three and was rusticated for cult activities.

It said Nwoye on May 1st together with an army of thugs and cultists almost succeeded in taking hostage members of the 3-man adhoc delegates election Committee who came to conduct the election and were forced to take decisions under duress as their lives were threatened by Nwoye’s thugs.
