The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused the Department of State Services, DSS, Nigerian Army and other security agencies in Nigeria of running Nazi Gestapo detention facilities.
IPOB said that many innocent men and women were being kidnapped, tortured and locked up by DSS and other security agencies for weeks, months and in some cases years without them being taken to court presently in Nigeria.
According to a statement by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, many people died in the process of being held in solitary confinement in secret cells all over the country, without their families knowing their whereabouts.
“In fact, there is no difference between the detention cells of the Nigeria security agencies, particularly the DSS and Army cells, and the Nazi Gestapo detention camps during the second world war.
“These detention centres have turned into abattoirs, where detainees are killed and their organs harvested and sold to the highest bidder by the wicked security operatives.
“Detention facilities of the various security agencies have become another abattoir where they slaughter human beings like cows. It is horrible that security agents, who are supposed to protect them, have become their worst nightmare.”
IPOB, however, insisted Nigeria should set a date to conduct a referendum to give Biafrans the opportunity to determine whether or not they want to continue to be part of the forced union and what it termed “the mistake of 1914.”
It also called on the international community to ask Nigeria and Kenya to explain their roles in the abduction and extraordinary rendition of Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya to Nigeria.
The group said the whole world was aware that Kanu did not jump any bail or commit any crime known to law to warrant being treated like a criminal.
IPOB added, “We are raising the alarm once again over the incessant and numerous attacks and killings going on in Nigeria, especially in the South-East, because they termed the region as a defeated and a conquered place in Nigeria, but IPOB won’t allow such to continue; we must expose their atrocities to the world.
“We wish to request world leaders, men and women of good conscience across the world to ask the Nigerian and Kenyan governments why they are yet to give clarification on how our leader was abducted in Kenya and rendition to Nigeria.
“Their inability to explain how our leader was abducted and rendition to Nigeria has only confirmed their culpability in the whole saga, no matter how clever they think they are in denying any involvement.
“It is a known rule that airports across the world are safe places for all law-abiding citizens. But Kenya allowed its international airport to serve as the abduction ground for the oppressive Nigerian government that kidnapped our leader, who travelled to Kenya with a British passport.”
