A new militant group, the Biafra Motherland Warriors has emerged in Anambra State.
The group launched an attack on a patrol team of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Monday killing at least two officers.
The killing of the officers occurred at Umuleri in Anambra East Local Government Area.
According to a video circulating on social media, the group was seen enforcing the sit-at-home directive ordered by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Though IPOB has called off the directive, it is still being observed in the region.
The new militant group opened fire on the civil defence team and subsequently set their patrol vehicle ablaze.
When contacted, Ikenga Tochukwu, spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command said he had not been briefed on the development.
He, however, promised to get back when he gets all the details of the attack.
