The leadership of Labour Party is set to activate a total of 176,640 units nationwide.

The plan came after a strategic meeting with its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, and the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress led by its national president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba.

Sources at the meeting said part of the resolution after the strategic meeting was to reactivate its dormant structures nationwide.

Accordingly, the party in conjunction with NLC, Academic Staff Union of the Universities, ASUU; Trade Union Congress, TUC; Nigerian Medical Association, NMA; Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, PCN; Nigerian Union of Journalists; NUJ, National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS; Civil Liberty Organisations, amongst other unions will reactivate a total of 176,640 units across the country.

The source said that the units will also have the party’s logo and other materials to enable mass registration of the masses who are the true owners of the party.

According to him, the reactivation of the units and registration of new party members are expected to be completed before the resumption of campaigns in September.

He added that they will also be linked with the over 250 Peter Obi support networks and other diasporan groups.
