Two days after gunmen attacked a police checkpoint at the Maryland area of Enugu South Local Government, Enugu state, another set of police officers have also been been killed by gunmen.
Standardobservers gathered that the Saturday’s attack occurred at Amodu Agbani in Nkanu Local Government Area of the state.
Locals said four police officers were shot dead by the gunmen.
A local identified as Izuchukwu added that after the attack, police officers raided the area and arrested every young man of age.
According to him, more than 70 persons have been arrested, forcing people to desert the area.
Daniel Ndukwe, spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command confirmed the attack.
He, however, denied that the police carried out mass arrests in the area.
