Communities in and around Uli and Azia in Ihiala Local government area of Anambra State are hopefully of being liberated as a combined team of Nigerian Army, Navy and operatives of the Department of State Service have stormed the hideout of criminals popularly called Unknown Gunmen in the LGA.
This comes days after soldiers dislodged the criminals at Aguluezechukwu in Aguata Local Government Area.
Locals said gunfights between the soldiers and the hoodlums have raged at Uli for over two hours. It was not immediately clear if the military operation was ongoing at other camps in Lilu and Orsumoghu.
Ihiala has the largest concentration of camps by the criminal elements who have also imposed levies on residents of some communities in the area.
