Atiku not eligible to contest for president - Malami

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has sent a memo to aggrieved members of the party.

Recall that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose had on Wednesday opened the lid on the cause of friction within the party which is threatening its chances ahead of the 2023 general election.

Ortom specifically complained about the treatment meted on the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.

He subsequently suggested that the party’s presidential candidate should meet with the governor to iron issues out.

Reacting to the development, Atiku said that every elected official in the party is loved.

In a statement on his Facebook page, the former vice-president said “The Peoples Democratic Party will remain united. Focus on our actions. We are taking action to address the feelings of all party members. The unity in our community is my priority. Our resolve to unify Nigeria starts in our party and moves to the community, then on to society.

“Every Governor, Legislator, and other elected officials produced by our party, and party members and loyalists, are much loved and respected by me. When they speak, I listen. I do not only listen. Appropriate actions have been taken, are being taken, and will continue to be advanced”
