Usman Alkali Baba has, the acting Inspector General of Police, has deployed CP Abutu Yaro to head the Imo State Command.
CP Frank Mba, force public relations officer in a statement said the development seeks to strengthen security, tackle violent crimes and enhance optimal coordination of policing operations in Imo.
Security personnel and facilities, as well as government buildings have been attacked by “unknown gunmen”. The Police headquarters and a Correctional Centre were damaged.
Yaro is a fellow of the National Defence College and the immediate-past Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command.
The new Imo CP takes over from Nasiru Mohammed who has been redeployed to Western Port Authority, Lagos.
Similarly, Hussaini Rabiu is the new CP of the Zamfara State Police Command.
CP John Amadi has been posted from Western Port Authority, Lagos to Airport Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos; CP Anderson Bankole is now in charge of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos.
Also, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu was posted to the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Force Headquarters, Abuja as the Commissioner of Police in charge.
The IGP urged the officers to bring to bear their professional experience to improve policing and restore public confidence.
Baba assured citizens of the determination of the Force to improve public safety and tackle all forms of crimes in Nigeria.
