Nigerians have described President Mohammadu Buhari’s decision to check the increasing price of food items in 2021 as long over due.
Stella Lawrence, Faith Uchenna, Steve Enyindah who spoke to our correspondent in Port Harcourt said that the move will make life more meaningful for Nigerians as the high price of food items has led to many poor Nigerians being malnourished.
They advised the government to address the security challenges in the country to enable farmers produce more food, pointing out that the herdsmen attack on farmers is also affecting food production.
“What I feel about what the of President Buhari said so far is that if he do it, we will be happy because people are suffering. There is so much suffer in this country and the increment in the price of goods here is higher.
“What I will say concerning the statement of Buhari, is that people are suffering, they abandoned people, they don’t want to carry everybody along. At his place, food is cheap but here, cost of living is very high. He has said it,vif at all he will do it, if he does what he says, he will be keeping his integrity.
“If he do what he said he wants to do, we will be very happy and we will be grateful because things are costly in Rivers State and other areas of this south south than in the northern region”
The respondents also called for more incentives for farmers and enjoined unemployed youths to go into farming rather than wait for white collar jobs.
