The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State says Governor Hope Uzodinma’s claims to have recovered 43 oil wells from the Rivers State Government is alarmist.
The PDP in a statement by its publicity secretary, Ogubundu Nwadike said there was no iota of truth in his claims, advising the governor to tell Imo people the truth for once.
Nwadike said “What the governor is doing is to find a way to curry favour from Imo people because he knows the people don’t like him.
“The governor claims to have recovered 43 oil wells from Rivers State but we all know that the Apex Court in the country has proclaimed that no oil well should be ceded to Imo State.
“Imo people woke up one morning to hear the fake news that 43 oil wells have been recovered from the Rivers State government. It was all over social media.
“The judgment of the Supreme Court has automatically put paid to the falsehood orchestrated, perpetrated and celebrated by the Uzodinma-led government.
“The truth is that issues about oil wells in Nigeria are not for political propaganda and blackmail on social media.
“For example, the President is the Minister of Petroleum, while the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and its various subsidiaries are directly in charge of oil and allied matters.
“It is the wish of every Imolite that Imo State benefits more from crude oil in Nigeria, but not for the governor to turn the peoples’ vision, dreams, and prayers into a mirage by raising a false alarm.
“The governor and his social media handlers should inform the people properly and stop deceiving them all the time,” he added.
