Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped a-yet-to-be ascertained number of travelers along the popular Sapele-Warri Road in Delta State.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the incident occurred on Saturday.

However, the Delta State Police Command denied knowledge of such a kidnap operation in the state.

One of the victims who claimed to have narrowly escaped from the kidnappers but sustained injuries in the process disclosed that the herdsmen attacked the travelers in their large numbers, Punch reports.

The unnamed victim while speaking in a video shared on Facebook by Warri Aproko Special stated that the attackers hit him with a gun and whisked away his family.

The victim further narrated that occupants of other vehicles were also kidnapped.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, however denied knowledge of such kidnap operation in the state.

He simply said, “No report of such pls”, in response to our correspondent’s request.
