Former Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Heartland of Owerri, have announced Hassan Abdallah as their new coach.

Abdallah, who has coached Kano Pillars, Gombe United, and Enugu Rangers, among others, succeeds Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, who has left for greener pastures.

The former Flying Eagles coach, who also assisted Coach Samson Siasia at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, signed a two-year deal with the Naze Millionaires.

Speaking to The Guardian on the new coach, a renowned Imo State-based sports journalist, Henry Echefu, said he expects Abdallah “should the club has a better team this time around.

“There are some players that a committee set up by the Deputy Speaker of the state and the state’s Commissioner for Sports identified and assembled recently… about 40 or 45 of them.”
