Gunmen on Friday night attacked several communities in Obowo, Ihite Uboma and Ehime Mbano Local Government Areas of Imo State, killing at least three persons and injuring one other.
Also, more than 12 motorcycles were burnt down by the rampaging gunmen.
In Umulogho community of Obowo, the hoodlums shot two men and a woman dead while properties were burnt down.
At Isinweke in Ihite Uboma, eight motorcycles were set ablaze by the hoodlums while one person was shot in the hand.
In Orieagu, Ehime Mbano, the hoodlums, set motorcycles and other properties ablaze.
Also at Afor Ọgbọ in Mbaise, the hoodlums set motorcycles ablaze while one person sustained bullet injury.
When contacted, Mike Abattam, the public relations officer of the Imo State police command confirmed the development.
He, however, said that the command has commenced investigation into the matter with a view to arresting the culprits.
