FRSC to deploy Body Cameras for operations in Anambra

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Anambra State Sector Command says it will collaborate effectively to decongest the road off gridlock during this yuletide season and after.

The Zonal Commanding Officer of RS5.3, Benin Mr. Andrew Kumapayi, who gave the assurance at Eziowelle, Anambra State stated that FRSC had set a zero tolerance target for itself on traffic gridlock this season and beyond, and announced it would deploy already launched body camera during the end of this year special patrol in Anambra to enhance transparency and good public image.

Mr. Kumapayi urged the Special Marshals to exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties in line with global base practices while describing them as crucial partners in the road safety business and urged them to work in accordance with the ethics, cultures and values for improved service delivery.

The Anambra State Sector Commander of FRSC Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, who lectured on the theme of a one-day retreat, “Volunteernism Beyond Ember Months; the Role of Special Marshals in combating Road Traffic Crashes, called on the Special Marshals to double their performances with genuine passion especially in the areas of traffic control, public enlightenment and enforcement during this yuletide and beyond to enable the corps achieve it’s target in eradication of Road Traffic Crash.

He disclosed that the Command has created Five Help Areas in strategic areas of the state to enable the Regular and Special Marshals ensure free flow of vehicular movement.

The RS. 5.3 Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Friday Ekeakor and the Anambra State Coordinator of Special Marshals, Mr. Patrick Esumai, stated that this year’s theme is carefully chosen due its relevance in the society that will enable Special Marshals in the state to help motorist in a selfless way and give public enlightenment to the society at large on how to minimize road crashes, obeying and maintaining traffic and regulations.

A resource person at the programme, Dr. Ndidiamaka Chukwujekwu lectured on effective way of maintaining healthy living during and after duty while one of the participants of the retreat who is also the Director, News and Current Affairs Department of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze stated that the event availed him the opportunity to re-strategize to serve the society better with regards to easing off traffic congestion.

The Special Marshals are volunteer arm of FRSC who complement the activities of the Regular Marshals in combating Road Traffic Crashes in Nigeria and have virtually all the rights and powers as given to the Regular Marshals.
