No less than five Nigerian soldiers have reportedly perished while others sustained several degrees of injuries in a fatal auto crash in Onitsha, the commercial nerve of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the soldiers from 302 Artillery Regiment, General Support, Onitsha, were responding to a distress call at Ihiala over planned attack by hoodlums when the mine-resistant, ambush protected vehicle, MRAP they were travelling in broke into pieces.
The cause of the accident is not immediately clear but some of the personnel travelling with the distress response squad blamed over-speeding for the accident.
Details later.
