A fashion designer identified as Ifeoma Nnebuo has been shot dead by operatives of the Ebubeagu Security Network in Imo State.
Nnebuo was shot on Sunday by the vigilante group during a search for members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the military wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at Afor Atta Market in Atta Njaba Local Government Area.
She owned a shop in the Afor Atta Market where she conducted her business.
She died on Monday, at St Mary’s Hospital Umuowa Orlu, from bullets wounds she sustained after stray bullets from the Ebubeagu operatives hit her in the head.
Eyewitnesses said the vigilante group shot sporadically in the air when they invaded Afor Atta Market, sparking fear amongst locals in the vicinity.
According to sources, her husband had died before now, forcing her to work hard to care of their three kids.
Recall that on the 17th of July, operatives of Ebubeagu Security Network killed 14 wedding guests in Awo Mmamma, sparking protests in parts of the state.
Governor Hope Uzodimma, however, said that the killing was carried out by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS, a claim that was countered by family members of the deceased.
Locals have accused the vigilante groups of high-handedness, abduction, torture and extra-Judicial murder.
When contacted, the public relations officer of the Imo police command, CSP Mike Abattam said he was not aware of the development.
