Following the death of two commissioners in the Dave Umahi’s cabinet, the Ebonyi State Government has commenced a three-day intercessory prayer in honour of the dead.

The fasting and prayers is themed “God Protect Our Dear State And Leaders.

The governor had on Tuesday declared a public holiday, ordering markets and offices to shut down in honour of commissioner for housing and development, Uche Ukah and commissioner for infrastructure, Fidelis Nweze.

The Prayer session was organized in association with the state’s chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, and is holding at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.

According to Umahi’s special adviser on media and publicity, Francis Nweze, the Prayer session which started on Wednesday, June 23rd will end on Saturday, June 25, 2021.

Governor David Umahi during the Prayers thanked CAN for the partnerships and expressed hope that with the Prayers, the pains would be assuaged.

“We want to thank you very much and to let you know that the Prayers are working perfectly well. The three most strategic people working on the ring road and making it effective are Uche, Nweze and Chioma, we will accomplish the ring road and all our projects in the State. I believe in your prayers, I have faith in your prayers.

“We have directed autopsy on him, we have also directed that the Driver and orderly should go to the Commissioner of Police and make their statement.”

“Nweze and Uche, they are irreplaceable and I am saying it with all sense of sincerity, two of them are destiny helpers to me, while we live, let us live well.”

He announced that the State Government would take over all their outstanding projects and make sure that all their children would attain University education under the sponsorship of the State Government.

The Governor said late Engineer Nweze was a man of great humility, describing him as the best Commissioner and best manager of Resources.

“Nweze made maximum merchandise of those who would have become criminals, Nweze was raising wonderful Engineers.

“Life is a gratuitous fragile gift of God. God is all-knowing, no one would have created the world except him. The knowledge of God is good and God knows the end from the beginning. If you see Engineer Nweze, you will know that he lived a life of fulfillment. He had job satisfaction, if you ask all those who have worked with Engineer Nweze, they will tell you he has established them.

“As for Engineer Uche, every woman has a limitation but she was strong, she was tough and she was always working as though she was a man.”

In a sermon, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Ebonyi State Chapter, Reverend Father Abraham Nwali described life as a gratuitous fragile gift from God and urged people to always live their lives in the Lord.

He paid tributes to the deceased for their inestimable contributions to the development of Ebonyi State under the present Leadership of Engineer David Nweze Umahi.

Reverend Father Nwali called on the people to always be ready for rapture by living life worthy of emulation.

“Be prepared, watch your style, it is not how long but how well you accomplish your mission here on earth,” he said.
