Unknown gunmen have attacked the convoy of the House of Representatives member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency, Chris Azubogu, killing his driver and abducting other of his loyalists.
Azubogu, who defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, earlier today was at the airport waiting for the convoy to pick him when they were attacked at Nnewi Road in Nnobi.
One of the drivers in the convoy was shot dead by the rampaging gunmen.
Meanwhile, gunmen have attacked the Ajali police station in Orumba North, kill several police officers and setting the station ablaze.
Standardobservers gathered that the gunmen attacked the station on Thursday afternoon, freeing most of the detainees in the station.
A patrol van parked at the station was also set ablaze.
Residents of the community could be seen in a circulating video labouring to rescue people trapped in the burning building.
