Bishop Uzoma Emmanuel Afamefuna, the Prelate of Christ Victorious Alive Revival Mission in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, has called for the scrapping of military and police checkpoints in the South East and South-South.

He also recounted his bad experiences and molestation by a soldier at the Army checkpoint located between the boundary of Rivers and Imo States.

He said soldiers flagged down a vehicle he was travelling in on Wednesday at Omalenu/Umuagwo boundary around 8:00 pm, adding that upon the stopping of the vehicle, one of the armed soldiers falsely accused him of making a telephone call and ordered him to alight from the bus.

He added that the soldier began to hurl insults at him after he had introducing himself as they requested.

According to him, the soldier made diverse defamatory remarks about him and other clerics, accusing them of burying human beings in their church altars.

Bishop Afamefuna said even after other passengers confirmed that he did not make a telephone call, the soldier continued insulting threatening to shoot him.

He said the soldier boasted that if he went ahead to kill him, no punishment would be meted out to him as an officer of the state.

The cleric said it was at that point that he made him to understand that he would place a curse on him if he carried out his threat and heaven would confirm it.

National Newsbreak reports that the Bishop called for the scrapping of the multiple police/army checkpoints in the South East and South South regions of the country when all they do is to collect tolls from motorists.

He wondered why the two regions which are relatively peaceful have so high number of police checkpoints while the North which is ravaged by terrorists, killer-herders and bandits has few checkpoints.
