The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Judicial Commission of Inquiry into police brutality, Justice Young Emmanuel Ogola (Rtd.) has expressed the Panel’s dissatisfaction with the fact that most of the Police Officers mentioned in all of the cases have failed appeared before the Panel since it began sitting.
Justice Ogola expressed the dissatisfaction on Thursday after all the police officers mentioned in all the four cases failed to appear before it.
He sought explanation from the police Counsel, Stella A. Jerry-Friday (Esq.) who explained to the Panel that it had become increasingly difficult to trace all officers involved in some of the cases because some of them had either been transferred from Bayelsa State Police Command or were no longer in the Police Force.
She however promised to ensure that some of them appear before the Panel in the next sitting date.
Justice Ogola said that the Panel was doing everything possible to enable all parties involved in the various cases to have a fair hearing.
He added that the whole idea of the Panel was to give recommendations that would alleviate the pains of aggrieved members of the public to enable peace reign in the State and in the Country.
