At least five herdsmen have been killed during an attack by bandits in Plateau State. Nineteen other herdsmen are also missing following the attack.
Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, Mohammad Nura, who confirmed the attack said the incident occured in Mangu Local Government Area while the herders were attending to their cattle, AIT reports.
Nura, also declared several other herders missing after the attack, adding that they escaped into the bush leaving their cows behind.
Spokesperson of the Military Special Task Force “Operation Safe Haven”, Major Ishaku Takwa, confirmed the attack and said officers have trailed the bandits to the bush where they recovered the bodies of the victims.
