Bandits abduct over 300 school girls in Zamfara

Bandits have stormed a government secondary school in Jangebe, Zamfara State, kidnapping female students numbering over 300.

According to Channels TV, the school which is located within the Talata-Mafara local government area of the state came under siege at past midnight.

The state commissioner for information, Hon. Suleiman Tunau Anka said the gunmen stormed the school around 1 a.m on Friday and abducted the students.

Sources say the bandits arrived in buses and motorcycles, which they used to take the pupils away, adding that the bandits were in the school for a long time without being challenged by any security outfit.

Mohammed Shehu, the State Police Public Relations Officer, told journalists that he was on his way to the school and would “brief the press later”.
