Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Kuryas and the Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment of Nigeria Army, Onitsha have promised to arrest those behind criminal activities in Ayamelum.
They made this promise on Tuesday when they paid a visit to the Traditional Ruler of Omor, Igwe Dr Chris Chidume in Ayamelum Council over the kidnap of the President General of the Community, Barrister Francis Onwuachi.
This follows the escalation of criminal activities of suspected herdsmen in the Ayamelum Council Area, including the destruction of farmlands, robbery, rape, kidnapping and all kinds of molestation and threats which have been going on unabated.
Condoling with the people of the council area, Mr Kuryas expressed dismay over the sad incident and said security agencies have embarked on the assessment of all flashpoints in the area and have commenced a full manhunt of the criminals to return the President General of the community to his family unhurt, ABS reports.

While asking for intelligent information that will aid security operatives in the job, Mr Kuryas appealed to stakeholders in the community to continue to sue for peace, promising that the joint task force of security agencies have been stationed in the council area to ensure that normalcy returned to the area.
The Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment of Nigeria Army, Onitsha, Colonel Sambo pointed out that security is a collective responsibility of all and as such all should be vigilant and provide the security officers with credible information that will aid the control of crimes.
He reminded all that two wrongs don’t make a right, and pleaded with them against taking laws into their own hands.
Igwe Chidume, however, expressed shock over the disheartening news of the kidnap of the President General, saying that the community strongly believes in the security architecture of the state and is hopeful that the state government will prioritize the search for their son and reunite him with them.
