A total of 2701 corps members of the 2021 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II) service year have been disengaged from National Service in Anambra State having concluded the one year mandatory programme today.

At the event which was low-key in the State, the NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Blessing Iruma, while addressing corps members in Onitsha North, and Idemili North lauded the numerous contributions of the outgoing corps members in the areas of teaching, medical, charity, skill acquisition, advocacy visits and sanitation exercise which she said has endeared them to the loving people of Anambra.

Iruma, while celebrating those who were diligent in the course of the year, equally advised those who fritted away the period and have been sanctioned variously ranging from two weeks to outright repetition of the service year to turn a new leaf.

She expressed mixed feelings about bidding them farewell since her arrival coincided with their departure. She however encouraged those who wished to make the State a home to remain. “imbibe the entrepreneurial spirit of Anambra so you can add value to yourselves and others” she said.

She advised them to shun corruption and other sharp practices that only destroy their lives.

She further added that the tradition of rewarding decency and hard work would always be in place.

She admonished them against night travels, farewell parties/picnics and other events that can expose them to danger while urging them to be security conscious all the time.
