The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), on Saturday, flagged off its campaign for the November 6 Anambra gubernatorial election at the Alex Ekwueme Square Awka.
The party stated that its candidate, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, would win convincingly at the poll.
Addressing the crowd, the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, announced that his choice of Soludo as his successor was as a result of his track record of achievements in the public service, adding that the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is the most qualified for the job.
Obiano noted that the signature projects that he executed were done without borrowing money, adding that the 12,000 sitting capacity of the International Conference Centre and the Anambra sports stadium would be ready before the election as well as the launching of Anambra Bombers and Anambra Babes football clubs for men and women.
He warned the All Progressive Congress (APC), not to make any attempt to rig the election, stressing that APGA remained the only political party known by Igbo people.
Speaking, the candidate APGA Prof Charles Soludo said that he is not going to learn on the job, adding that he would leverage on the existing foundation so far made and do more.
“My manifestos will be hinged on a five-point agenda of leave, invest, learn, work and relax and my administration would produce 1,000 millionaires and create 13, million jobs every year while in office as governor”, Soludo assured.
In their separate speeches, a chieftain of APGA, Chief Jude Emecheta, Onitsha North Council Chairman, Honourable Patrick Agha-Mba and his Ogbaru LGA Chairman, Awogu, also warned APC and its candidate not to think of rigging the mandate of Anambra people.
According to them, “We know their plan and it will not work. We shall see the result sheets and we shall follow the materials from the Central Bank to all the polling units in the state and also follow the results to the collation centre until the results are announced.”
They appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure a free, fair and transparent process at the polls.
