Stakeholders in the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), in the Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State have declared support for Nonso Smart Okafor to become the party’s flagbearer for the November 6 gubernatorial election.
This is as the assembly visited the area to consult the party members about his gubernatorial ambition.
Addressing the party officers, the Governorship hopeful said that his decision to run for the election is based on his conviction that with his experience, and vision, he is better placed to build a viable, independent, secured and advanced economy for the state while consolidating on the achievements of Governor Obiano administration.
He noted that his plan which is tagged VISA ECONOMY, built on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will address human and societal development, which will position the state economically, socially, and politically.
Okafor who is representing Nnewi North Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly (ASHA) said that his membership of several House committees has taken him around different communities in the state, adding that he understands and knows the real issues, problems, and solutions.
Speaking further, he emphasized that he will leverage on the experience of his humble background, his experience as a lawmaker, and international exposure to transform the state.
Appealing to the stakeholders to support his Governorship ambition, the lawmaker called for a free and fair primary election that will determine the party’s flag bearer, noting that anything short of transparency will surely have a negative impact on the party.
According to him, beyond his competence, he has the required capacity to win the election, noting that his aspiration will rekindle the hope and the yearnings of the electorates for a new breed of leaders.
In his remarks, the Chairman of APGA in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Ikechukwu Obidiugwu and other stakeholders expressed support for Okafor.
They said his candidacy will guarantee victory for the party judging from the experience and capacity he wields.
The interactive section had the presence of all the party executives in the twelve (12) wards and the LGA executives of Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
