Okezie Ikpeazu, the Abia State governor has sent a team led by Mr Chibuzo Ndom, his Special Assistant on Students Affairs, to the university in Jos, Plateau State, to evacuate all students of Abia origin who are currently stranded as a result of the recent violence and subsequent closure of the institution.
The students had raised alarm last Thursday over continued attacks on them by hoodlums, whom they said had killed four students in the last five days,
John Okiyi Kalu, the state Commissioner for Information, said the contingent from Abia which includes security personnel are expected to ensure the safe return of the over 200 students of Abia origin back to the state capital, Umuahia, where the evacuees will be welcomed by the Governor.
