A Widow, Margaret Madubuike has cried to the State Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Police Brutality, demanding justice over the alleged murder of her only son, Kinsley Ndubuisi Madubuike on December 2016, by SARS Operatives at Rukpokwu.
In her testimony, Mrs Madubuike told the Panel that her late son who was 25 years old in 2016, was on his way back from Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Imo state, where he went to pay one hundred and fifty thousand naira for his school clearance, only to be arrested same day at Oyigbo by police officers and tortured to death.
Madubuike who was physically devastated over the ugly incident insisted that her only son was not involved in any criminal activities as alleged by the police before his untimely death.
“Police did not tell me the crime my son committed till date; he went to pay his clearance fee at Nekede Federal Polytechnic Imo state. On his way back to Oyigbo local government area, where he lives with my in-law who is training him in the University, he was arrested by Police Officers. I later went to Aluu Divisional of Police to look for him, they informed me he was not in their custody.
“The DPO Aluu took me to SARS office Rukpokwu, it was in SARS office that the Aluu officers who took me to SARS told me I should take heart that my son is dead, just like that my son was tortured to death for no crime.

“I am demanding twenty million naira compensation from the police authority, I am a widow, I don’t have any help. I also want the corpse of my son to be released for burial”
A clergy, Apostle Simon Amaha has demanded justice for the murder of his Elder brother, John Amaha by the Special Anti-robbery squad SARS on 4th March 2018, at the Evo road GRA, Port Harcourt, while carrying out his duty.
Apostle Amaha explained that his late Brother, John Amaha who always carry out humanitarian service of controlling traffic around Evo Axis of GRA was shot dead by a SARS Officers in annoyance that he was delaying them while trying to decongest traffic.
“While my late brother was decongesting traffic, a Police van conveying SARS Officers shouted on him to stop wasting their time and ordered him to immediately pass their lane, my brother told them to exercise a little patient, but one of the SARS Officers angry jumped down from the van and shot my brother twice.
“My brother died early hours of the next day due to lack of money to pay for his hospital treatment and to extract the bullet’s from his body, with help of police officers from Oluobasanjo Police Division, I was able to deposit his corpse in UPTH mortuary.
“Reasons the SARS Officer who shot gave is that my brother is a bloody civilian to be wasting their time on traffic”
He appealed to the commission to ensure justice in the matter and financial compensation of Fifty million naira be paid to the family pointing out that his mother died of hypertension on receiving news of the death her late son John Amaha.
Another petitioner, Kotienbo Herbert accused the IGP monitoring team borokiri division of killing his son Herbert thankGod and his cousin Nelson Ajumogobia, after he paid two hundred thousand naira out of the five hundred thousand naira demanded for their bail.
He explained that the operatives of the IGP monitoring team arrested the two at Iwofe Rumuolumeni area and tagged them kidnappers when they went to demand for a debt.
He demanded their corpse be released to him and one hundred million naira compensation to be paid.
