The chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra, Basil Ejidike, has said the party will secure the state if its candidate, Andy Uba is elected as governor.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday, Ejidike said political killings had resurfaced in Anambra, adding that security is at its lowest ebb in the state.

He blamed the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for its “insensitivity to the plight of the citizens”, and said if the party’s governorship candidate wins the election, APC will “deploy all its arsenal to stop insecurity in the state”.

According to him, the current does not have the ability or the will to tackle security challenges.

“Security should be a primary provision by a reasonable government to its citizenry. The government now hunts down people who do not believe in its governance, instead of providing security,” he said.

The APC chairman condemned the recent killing of Alex Edozieuno, a former traditional ruler of Mkpunando, Anambra east LGA, and his driver.

“Edozieuno recently joined APC and since then, as a trusted party member and grassroots person, had promised to deliver the party in his area,” he said.

“The man was still serving the suspension order of the government and was replaced by another person. APGA knows his political worth and was afraid of his actions since he joined APC.

“Our people can talk and talk, do all sorts of things but as Igbo, we value the sanctity of life and regard human lives.

“We have never seen this type of killing in Anambra, that is why we raised alarm.”

Ejidike said the APC will do everything to change the narrative of politics in the Anambra electoral process, and bring security mechanisms that will work in the state.
