A fully loaded Water Tanker on Thursday crushed eight persons to death in Enugu.
An eye witnesses said the tanker lost brake, ramming into a minibus conveying passengers, killing eight persons on the spot.
Passengers in other vehicles sustained several degrees of injuries.
The driver of the tanker escaped while the tanker was set ablaze by angry onlookers.
Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has visited the scene of the incident.
Governor Ugwuanyi, who was accompanied by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo thereafter proceeded to Posh Hospital, New Haven, Enugu, to empathize with the survivors and ensure that they receive adequate medical attention.
He also pledged to pay all medical bills of the accident victims and consequently made sufficient funds available with the hospital management to ensure the patients were properly treated without any hindrance.
