Major banks branches around Bank Road, Owerri, the capital of Imo State where on Tuesday shut down by the state government for obeying the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The sealing was conducted through one of its agencies, the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA).
Though IPOB has called off the sit-at-home, it is still being observed in the region.
Some of the banks affected were Polaris Bank, Access Bank PLC, Skye Bank, Union Bank, First Bank, Heritage (Enterprise) Bank, Keystone Bank, and EcoBank while Zenith Bank was spared.
The branches of the affected banks in the State, which are now under lock and key have remained locked as hundreds of customers were stranded at the time of filing this report.
A customized ribbon of the state government were used by the officials in sealing the various banks as early as 7 am.
