Uzodimma receives new Imo Assembly Speaker

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has received the newly elected speaker of the state House of Assembly, Kennedy Ibeh.

Paul Emeziem, the former Speaker was impeached on Monday and was replaced with Ibe during the House plenary session.

His impeachment followed several allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office and was removed following unanimous decision of 19 members out of 27 lawmakers in a signed letter read on the floor of the house.

Ibeh, who is the member representing Obowo State Constituency, was sworn in immediately as the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.

Amara Iwuanyanwu, the deputy speaker who was impeached last week stormed the chambers with six lawmakers and some security personnel to impeach the Speaker.
