The PDP Candidate for Imo East Senatorial District, Uche Onyeagocha, has condemned in strongest terms the recent conversion of the State Ministry of Sports building to APC South East Presidential Campaign Office by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Onyeagocha said that the State Ministry of Sports building situated at Dan Anyiam Stadium along Wetheral Road Owerri is State property and neither Governor Uzodimma’s private property nor that of the APC.
“Conversion of such State property into a party Campaign Office by Governor Uzodimma is very reprehensible and offensive to the sensibility of the people of Imo State.
“But if not for Gov. Uzodinma’s predisposition and penchant for impunity, one wonders what else could give him the imprudent audacity to convert a State Government property into a mere Candidate’s Campaign Office.
“Governor Uzodimma should know that Imo State is not his father’s private property; neither is it his own enterprise.
“There are several private buildings in the State that Uzodimma can use as his Party’s Zonal Presidential Campaign Office rather than using government property.
“Besides, nothing stops him from using his own house in Omuma as APC zonal presidential campaign office rather than converting Government property for such purpose.
“Governor Uzodimma should be ashamed of himself that close to three years since the inception of his regime, he cannot point at any structure erected by his administration in the State, rather he is busy converting a government property built by his predecessor into a private Campaign Office.
“This disdainful act by Governor Uzodimma has confirmed that he is taking Imo State and Ndimo for a ride.
“We call on the National leadership of APC to call Governor Uzodimma to order to rescind his decision because Imo State is not “Uzodimma & Sons Enterprises”.
“We also, call on ndi Imo State to rise and condemn this act of impunity against the State”.
