UniZik students vow to continue protest as VC sets up committee to reduce fees

The students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, on Tuesday continued their protest against the increment in tuition fees, vowing to continue the protest until the fees are returned to initial payment structures.

The students, numbering over 4,000 turned up for the second day of the protest, crippling every academic and non-academic activities.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Esimone, who addressed the students, promised to set up a committee that will work on reducing the school fees to acceptable levels.

He promised to get back to the angry students within 24 hours.

The Students, however, stated that the protests will not be called off until their demands are met in full, including dues for regular and post graduate students.

They called on the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of the University, ASUU must step in and put Prof Esimone in order, adding that he is way out of line.
