Two die, properties destroyed as bus carrying adulterated fuel bursts into flames in Rivers

At least two persons were confirmed dead, while several others were injured as a commercial bus conveying adulterated fuel popularly known as kpo-fire burst into flames.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening at Elele-Alimini community of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Eyewitnesses said four shops were also burnt down while one residential building was affected.

It was gathered that the bus conveying the adulterated fuel packaged in nylon bags from Ahoada Local Government Area to an unknown destination caught fire and exploded.

The driver who was able escape from the inferno was however apprehended by locals and handed over to the police.

A woman and her baby were burnt to death during the fire incident while five others sustained several degrees of injuries.
