Tuface calls for peaceful election in Anambra

Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2Face Idibia has called on the youths to embrace peace and participate actively in the November 6th gubernatorial election in the sate.

He said that peaceful participation will enthrone good governance.

The Nigerian Afro-pop artist made the call in a meeting with Anambra youth leaders at Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, on Wednesday, ABS reports.

2Face Idibia who is the founder of a non – governmental organization, “Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War”, maintained that election is not fight.

He called on contestants in the gubernatorial election to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and not to indulge in any act that is capable of causing bloodshed.

On his part, the Anambra state Commissioner of Police New Police Commissioner, Mr Echeng Eworo represented by the Officer In-charge of Operations, Mr Emma Ogbuanya assured Ndi Anambra of adequate security on the election day, as according to him, the police and sister agencies are already prepared for the election.

He warned that anybody that is preparing to induce violence on the election day to have a rethink.

Contributing, the Head of Unit, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Okwuchukwu Ani promised that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has concluded efforts on ensuring a level playing ground for all political parties participating in the November election.

Speaking, the Executive Director, Catch Them Young Community Initiative, CATYCOI, Mr Nonso Orakwe observed that peaceful and credible elections are essential for democracy to thrive, and pointed out that when the election is free and fair, that it facilitates the smooth transfer of power from one administration to another and confers legitimacy on elected officials.

The event tagged, “Youth Consultative Meeting With 2Baba Idibia in Anambra State”, had in attendance youth leaders from various organizations and religious bodies across the state.

“Vote Not Fight; Election No Be War” is a platform founded by the Nigerian Afro-pop star in 2014 with the aim of enlightening Nigerians on the need to actively participate in elections and shun electoral violence.
