I recall a conversation on a ‘popular’ wall in this Facebook village around 2016 or so where Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was the subject. It was the wall of a Buharideen and boy, you should have seen the depth of sheer dripping hate directed at this woman.
Supposedly enlightened commenters, daft ones, hateful ones, poetic and prosaic commenters….they were all there trashing NOI in the most deprecating language you can imagine using the stupidest lies ever told by lying machines like Oshiomhole. These folks didn’t care whether they were lies anyway, they just used them in their assignment to ‘kill’ the woman online.
I still recall my comment there. Against the run of the effluxion of bitter emotions on that post, I wrote something like this –
“When my daughters come, I will say to them, ‘you see that woman called Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala? Be like her, emulate her. She’s a great woman’.”
Oh boy, you can imagine the reaction! It was as if I insulted their parents! They attacked and cursed, raved and ranted like demented souls. And oh, have you ever seen me take on a large group of Buharideen? Hehehehe! Those days I had plenty of time for them, unlike now when they’re just so much Internet debris to me.
While they were still cursing and lying, the woman kept getting global recognition – Twitter Board, GAVI etc…now WTO. Whom God has blessed, no foul-mouthed Buharideen can curse.
Today, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, the first African and the first female to hold that position.
The woman whom they cursed and told the stupidest lies about has become the toast of the entire world.
Congratulations to NOI! Pride of the Igbo nation, pride of Africa. I pray God sustains you and keeps you as a good example for us.
