Following the placing of charms at the main entrance of the gate of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri,(FUTO) on Tuesday, students and staff avoided using it to gain access into the school.
Eyewitnesses said students and staff made use of alternative routes into the school premises due to the presence of the charm.
It was alleged that one of the host communities of the school which has been at loggerheads with the management of the institution dumped the charm placed in a coffin and palm fronds at the school gate as a warning to the school management to steer clear from their land.
It was gathered that the community has been battling the school for a long time over a vast piece of land that was grabbed by the institution.
Mrs Uche Nwelue, the public relations officer of the school confirmed the development but declined to comment on the land grabbing accusation by the community.
